Evergreene a le grand plaisir de présenter Land Crusader, une exposition de Valentin Carron. Les oeuvres de ce jeune valaisan, déjà reconnu en Suisse et à l'étranger, apparaissent pour la première fois à la galerie. Valentin Carron est collectionneur, bricoleur, et conservateur des objets symboliques de notre culture. Il rassemble antiquités et nouveautés, ainsi que les nouveautés de hier, déjà périmées. Il isole en forme de ready-made, ou bien combine en hybride au sens détourné, ces choses, ces objets de la culture Suisse ou mondiale, que nous produisons pour en tirer ensuite notre identité. "Valentin Carron se fait le témoin des modes de constitution de la culture à l'ère de la consommation de masse. Son travail examine les valeurs qualitatives et décoratives attribuées aux objets qui nous entourent, comme autant de symptômes de notre système culturel. Nombre de ses oeuvres font allusion à certaine culture populaire, rurale ou alpine, en interrogeant les notions de production (artisanale, industrielle...), de valeur d'usage et de valeur symbolique. Si les référents à la culture populaire sont récurrents, ses oeuvres ont davantage à voir avec la période industrielle et ses corollaires. Comme le souligne Huyghe, la naissance de l'industrie a eu pour conséquence la mise en doute de l'histoire linéaire et du progrès." J.F Valentin Carron est né en 1976 à Fully. En 2003, il a eu une exposition personnelle à Alimentation Générale à Luxembourg. Ses oeuvres ont également été exposées au Centre Culturel Suisse de Paris et au Biennale de Prague. Il vit et travaille à Martigny et à Genève. Evergreene is pleased to announce Land Crusader, an exhibition by Valentin Carron. The work of this young artist, already well known in Switzerland and abroad, will be shown for the first time at the gallery. Valentin Carron is a collector, craftsman and curator of the symbolic objects of our culture. He brings together antiques and the latest thing, as well as yesterday's latest thing, already out-of-date. He takes these objects of Swiss and global culture, things that we produce and from which we then derive our identity, and sets them up as ready-mades or as hybrids with a twisted meaning. "Valentin Carron bears witness to the modes of cultural construction in an age of mass consumption. His work investigates the qualitative and decorative values assigned to the objects that surround us, as so many symptoms of our cultural system. Several of his works make allusions to aspects of popular, rural or alpine culture and reexamine ideas about the production (be it artisanal or industrial) of practical and symbolic values. Although there are recurrent references to popular culture, Carron's works are more involved with the industrial period and its offshoots. As Huyghe emphasized, the birth of industry threw into question the linearity of history and progress." J.F. Valentin Carron was born in 1976 in Fully. In 2003, he had a solo show at Alimentation Générale in Luxemburg. His work was also shown at the Centre Culturel Suisse of Paris and the Prague Biennale. He lives and works in Martigny and Geneva. |
